History of Web Hosting

Web hosting has taken the world by storm ever since it first really took off in 1991 but of course, it was nothing like it is today. With all of our advances in technology, it is hard to believe where things actually first started out. But even though it was not as advanced then, as it is now, the world of web hosting services along with the Internet are some of the best technological inventions of our time. And because of all the commercial possibilities, there were doors opening everywhere and new opportunities sprouting everywhere for everyone to host their own web pages.
 
This was the revolution of electronic commerce as companies started to see the growth with web hosting. Once they saw what could be ahead of them, they began to offer up services to others who were interested in having host pages on the Internet for the entire world to see and learn from. Now, the regular common Joe was able to access web addresses and web pages. In the beginning though, the system and formats were slightly different but with time came evolution and the formats became much easier to navigate through.
 
It is amazing to see how things change as web hosting services in the beginning were extremely hard to use and very expensive. Only certain people and companies seemed to be able to grab onto web hosting. But over time that changed but there was still the need for technical companies to help with the process. In today’s world, there are web hosting services that are free for use which is a big jump from where this all started many years ago. This gives you an idea of how far the whole process and idea has moved along.
 
Also, another fact is that in the beginning, it was large computer companies that would use space from their servers to rent out to people. But now, web hosting has become a business of its own, as there are millions upon millions of people offering these services to others. In the past only large organizations and big businesses could do the job but now individual people can host their own web pages.
 
And as with anything, we like options and different ways to do things. This is true even with web hosting as in the beginning we started with just one way to do things. Now, there are several types of web hosting companies and services depending upon what someone’s needs and requirements are. Today, the web hosting business is a multi-billion dollar industry.
