BlueHost just happens to be one of the older web hosting companies in the industry, being born back in 1996. With that said, they have been around the block quite a few times, but recently they seem to have lost their grip when it comes to providing customers with what they pay for.
Why do I say that? Only this BlueHost review will be able to answer that accurately.
Price Value
At $6.95 per month, BlueHost is far from offering the most affordable web hosting plans on the block. Sure, they have been around a while and they may say that quality supersedes cheap prices, but from what I have seen recently, their quality isn’t that good.
For example, just by reading their blog I saw where a customer was shut down without notice just for having an increased volume of traffic on their website. Sure, if you grow, you need to invest in high-end hosting. After all, BlueHost is far from becoming a high-end host.
Is it a good value? Let’s just say that it’s not the best deal I’ve seen among hosts who have been reviewed here at Web Hosting Break.
Features
Ok, so let’s see if their features justify their pricing. Why else would something be more expensive than the majority of hosts who have been proven to be some of the best in the industry?
- 24/7 Support (US Based)
- Unlimited Disk Space
- Unlimited Bandwidth
- Free Domain for Life
- $50 Vouchers for Yahoo! & Google Ads
- Much more…
When I look at their features and take them into consideration, it’s pretty much the same as many of the other hosts who have more affordable prices. If the features are why they charge more, it’s not right.
Performance
BlueHost claims to offer dual quad-core servers, but there’s something that tells me if they do, they seriously oversell. Why? Well, I’ve seen many BlueHost customers who report slow servers. In fact, it’s not just one or two, but it seems to be most of their client base.
I have to fail BlueHost on their performance simply because they can’t seem to get a grip and provide their clients with fast web hosting.
Reliability
BlueHost has faith when it comes to their clients experience minimal downtime. The reason that I say that is that they offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee with their web hosting plans. However, due to poor consumer reviews, I doubt that I can actually classify BlueHost as one of the most reliable hosts.
Support
BlueHost is one of few hosts that has an American waiting on the other end of the phone line when you call them for a little bit of assistance. Their support team works around the clock via e-mail, their helpdesk, and telephone.
I have to say that this seems to be one of the strongest areas for the folks over at BlueHost.
Love Factor
BlueHost used to be one of my favorite webhosting providers, but these days it’s hard for me to say that they still are. The main reason for this is that I can’t trust them to provide fast hosting anymore. Not to mention, they aren’t the most trustworthy when it comes to reliability either.
With that said, one of the other hosts featured here might be the better choice. Sure, BlueHost provides American support and a few good features, but their reputation for performance and reliability really hurt my opinion of this host.

Blue host’s servers are SLOW
website has gone 2 times and is down presently, thus it is not perfect!
BH is the best overall host i’ve ever used. SSH access is useful and they really had developers in mind when they set up their plans. I only had to contact support 1 time, which was simply activation of ssh. Great host!
Hostmonster is Bluehost so just rate them as one company.
