HostMonster is one of the oldest hosts in the industry, being established back in 1996. They offer unlimited web hosting and many other great features.
Whether or not they are one of the best is something that’s yet to be found out, but by the end of this review you will know. I can promise you’re about to read something that’s not going to beat around the bush, especially since I don’t play favorites here at Web Hosting Break.
Price Value
Running at $5.95 per month, HostMonster isn’t one of the most affordable hosts in the industry. In fact, they offer just about the same features as other hosts, but just charge a slightly higher price. Is it a good value? Well, it’s not a bad deal by any means, and they are one of the more reputable hosts making it a justified expense.
Features
Ok, I can hear you asking what kind of features you can expect with HostMonster. So, here they are.
- Unlimited Storage Space
- Unlimited Bandwidth
- Free Domain for Life
- Free Website Builder
- Unlimited Email Accounts
- Free Shopping Cart
- $50 Google Adwords Voucher for FREE
- Many more features available…
The features that the folks over at HostMonster put together are good, but I’ve honestly seen better features with some of the competing hosts that I reviewed here at Web Hosting Break.
Performance
HostMonster provides their clients with high-end servers. You’ll find that they use FOUR processors for each server that they utilize. Of course, some will say that HostMonster doesn’t offer very good performance, but the positives outweigh the negatives in this case.
With that said, the performance that HostMonster offers is actually the performance that you’ll only find with the most reputable hosts in the industry.
Reliability
When it comes to being reliable, HostMonster offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Also, many of their customers have submitted positive stories about how much they can trust HostMonster as their host due to their great level of reliability.
Support
HostMonster offers support for their clients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week via telephone, live chat, and e-mail. Also, on their website they claim to strive towards providing the best support in the industry, which tells me these guys really care about their customers. That definitely makes me feel good about recommending them to you for any web hosting needs that you may have.
Love Factor
When I take all of the factors into consideration, HostMonster may not be the best web hosting provider in the world, but they are pretty darn close to it. After all, they do offer a lot more than most hosts have ever offered, then again there are hosts who leave HostMonster gagging on the smoke of their exhaust.
I must say I do like quite a few things about HostMonster such as their support and reliability, but I think they could do better when it comes to providing their customers with a few more free bonuses.

Due to server reboots and poor support I can only give 2 stars.
Support tickets take forever to get a response. live chat you get fobbed off with a I don’t know when it will be back online. Try again in a few hours. And no discounts for long standing customers.
Discounts to only new customers!!! Now that really encourages customer loyalty.
I’ve been with them 6 months so far and
in my experience they are the best support I’ve ever dealt with. I had a server issue one afternoon and they had it fixed in about 30 mins.
I was with Hostmaster for three years and everything was fine until they arbitrarily decided its customers were too stupid to set their own passwords and arbitrarily reset all passwords. They wouldn’t allow anyone back in until they chose a password that met their Nazi definition that made it impossible to select one a person would be capable of remembering.
I complained and they refused to restore my original password. This was a big deal because I have a number of dumb firewall devices in remote locations that had to be reset manually and uploaded their status by FTP to the host.
When I tried resetting the password, I still couldn’t get into FTP because they had a new setting that closed it down for an your each time a failed login attempt hit it.
So they made it fully impossible for me to get anything working again without spending two days resetting everything. Now I don’t trust them at all after doing something so arbitrary and nasty.
I hate them, they suck.
I’m happy with HM. They don’t have the restrictions on php scripts, php memory and mysql database limits that I had at Lunarpages. I upgraded to HM in December and haven’t looked back.
It’s too bad you don’t have have a minus rating. This hosting service gets a call from me at least once a month for being down.
Not only does one site go down – all of my sites go down!!!!!
On the plus side…They are very friendly at support and actually talk so i can understand what they are saying.
But I am going to move all my domains elsewhere because I simply cannot put up with their downtime.
Why do all of these people like Host Monster? They’re really a monster that will bite you in the long run. They limit your host account to 50,000 files and if you go over they will turn it off. Keep in mind that a blank main page and spacer counts as one file each. If you blog, youre really going to be in trouble once you start loading it up with content.
