NorthStar is the sister company of The Planet, which means that they share the same principles when it comes to providing a stable and reliable service. NorthStar and The Planet have been around for several years and area nearly household names in the hosting industry.
The Hosting Package
NorthStar has 100% green Linux hosting for just $9.99 a month for year. Most of their packages are quoted on a per need basis so you would need to fill out their web hosting estimate forms in their website to know more about their hosting packages.
What’s Great About Northstar?
- Intuitive and attractive website
This portion of the web service is often taken for granted but without a useful website jam packed with relevant information, then a hosting service will not fly. In their website you can easily spot the promos that they have and the types of packages that you can avail of. The perks are also listed on the home page as well as some snippets of testimonials.
- Prioritizes protection of the hardware for a stable service
NorthStar proudly uses multiple biometrics sensors to protect and keep the servers stable. They believe that a safe, consistent environment for their hardware is key in producing a reliable network.
- Unlimited packages available
NorthStar has unlimited FTP accounts, email accounts and bandwidth allocation for most of its customers. This is a great plus point since it takes away the worry of having to account for all of your data traffic. This is also an excellent way to resell their services.
- Almost 100% uptime record
An effect of their stable servers is the nearly 100% uptime record that Northstar consistently keeps. For developers that need this type of rock solid connection, this is the most sought-after quality in web hosting solutions providers.
What’s Disappointing About Northstar?
✖ So-so technical support service
Most of Northstar’s users are happy with the technical support attention that they get although there are sporadic accounts of unsatisfactory responses. If Northstar can work on ensuring a consistent technical support experience for all customers, then there is nearly nothing more you can ask for.
✖ A little bit expensive
A minor drawback is that NorthStar’s packages are on the expensive side. For some, this little increase in cost compared to their nearest competitors is negligible but for start up companies, it can spell the difference between signing up with NorthStar or looking for a cheaper alternative.
The Bottom line
NorthStar, similar to The Planet, is already an established and reputable team to sign up with. If cost is not really an issue, then it is highly recommended that you try out NorthStar’s services to see how well they fit your requirements.

For a year now, Northstar…
For a year now, Northstar Host has been my web host provider. At first, I wasn’t interested at all since it was very expensive compared to others. But when my uncle told me how reliable they are, I tried it. Fortunately, I did. Believe me; I haven’t experienced any downtime yet. All in all, I have no complains about them yet except for their technical support. Well, I’m not really impressed with their technical support since there are some who aren’t really knowledgeable with computer stuff. So every time you’re going to inquire, expect vague answers from them. I’m serious about this!
