Click the WORDPRESS LINK.

You will be taken to the WORDPRESS installation screen.

WORDPRESS is a personal publishing tool (blog) with focus no aesthetics and featuring cross-blog tool, password protected posts, importing, multiple authors, bookmarks and more.

Enter the name of the directory you’d like to install in, or leave the field bank for installation in the root directory.

Enter an ADMIN USERNAME AND PASSWORD in the following boxes.

Enter the ADMIN NICKNAME and EMAIL ADDRESS and DESCRIPTION in the boxes provided.

Enter the details for the BLOG BY EMAIL feature in the boxes provided.

Click the INSTALL button.

Click the FINISH INSTALLATION button.

You’ve successfully installed WORDPRESS in your account. Click the provided LINK to login to your new installation.

Login using the ADMIN USERNAME AND PASSWORD you assigned during installation.

Your new installation is now listed in the scripts home page.

To VISIT SITE click the provided link at the bottom center of the page. To delete the site, click the REMOVE link at the bottom right of the page.

From the DASHBOARD click the APPEARANCE menu.

Click HEADER.

From this screen you can see a preview of your current header.

Click on BROWSE to upload your own image, or select one from the provided list to use.

Use the buttons at the bottom of the page to REMOVE the header image or RESTORE the original header image.

Click SAVE CHANGES.

The new header has been saved.

CHANGING HEADERS IN WORDPRESS

From the DASHBOARD click to expand the USERS option.

Click on YOUR PROFILE.

Scroll all the way down.

Enter a new PASSWORD.

Reenter your new PASSWORD.

The strength indicator will tell you how strong your new password is.

Click UPDATE PROFILE.

Your password has now been changed.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IN WORDPRES

From the DASHBOARD click SETTINGS.

This page has general settings that you can change like the blog TITLE, TAGLINE and URL.

Choose who can register by altering the MEMBERSHIP section.

Select the DATE FORMAT.

Choose the TIME FORMAT.

Select what day the WEEK starts on.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you are done.

In the SETTINGS menu along the left side of the screen, click on WRITING.

On this page you can edit the settings related to writing posts.

Enter a SIZE for the post box.

You can set up EMAIL POSTING from this page.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you have finished.

From the SETTINGS menu, click on  READING.

You can set how many blog pages to show.

Select whether to show FULL TEXT or just a SUMMARY in blog feeds.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you are done.

From the SETTINGS menu, click on DISCUSSION.

On this page you can change settings that relate to comments and avatars. You may opt to force users to log in to comment, disallow unapproved comments, change ratings, and select default avatars for users.

Click SAVE CHANGES when you have finished editing.

From the SETTINGS menu, click on MEDIA.

Here you can change settings like the maximum allowed image dimensions and image alignment.

From the SETTINGS menu, click on PRIVACY.

From this screen, you can choose whether or not to allow Bots and Search Engines to access your blog.

From the SETTINGS menu, click on PERMALINKS.

From this screen you can choose what type of URL STRUCTURE is used.

CONFIGURING SETTINGS IN WORDPRESS

From the DASHBOARD click the PAGES menu.

Click ADD NEW.

Enter a TITLE for the new page.

Enter the content in the provided box.

You can select the PARENT PAGE in the PAGE ATTRIBUTES box along the right side of the page.

Click PUBLISH when you are done.

To view all of your pages, click on PAGES from the left side of the screen.

To DELETE a page, click the TRASH link just below the pages title.

MANAGING PAGES IN WORDPRESS

From the DASHBOARD, click to expand the USERS options.

Click YOUR PROFILE.

On this screen you can edit options relating to the visual editor and color scheme.

Scroll down.

On this part of the screen you can edit your NAME, NICKNAME, DISPLAY NAME, BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION and EDIT PASSWORDS.

Click UPDATE PROFILE.

UPDATING PROFILE IN WORDPRESS

From the DASHBOARD click to expand the POSTS options.

Click CATEGORIES.

To create a NEW CATEGORY type a name in the top box near the center of your screen.

Next, type in the SLUG, or URL friendly version of the Category name.

You can choose to select a category PARENT from the dropdown box.

Next, enter a DESCRIPTON in the provided box.

Click ADD CATEGORY.

You can quickly edit a categories information by clicking the QUICK EDIT link, just under the categories name.

Make any necessary changes or click CANCEL.

Categories can be deleted by clicking the DELETE link under their name.

Click OK to confirm deletion.

From the DASHBOARD, click to expand the USERS option.

Click ADD NEW.

Enter a USERNAME, USERS EMAIL ADDRESS, FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, and scroll down.

Choose a PASSWORD for this user, and enter it twice.

Click ADD USER.

To DELETE a user, click the DELETE link under the users name.

From your DASHBOARD click to expand the PLUGINS menu.

Click PLUGINS.

This page will show you a list of all your installed plugins.

To ACTIVATE a plugin, use the ACTIVATE link.

Click ADD NEW.

To find more plugins, you can browse the WORDPRESS PLUGIN DIRECTORY, accessible by the link near the top of your screen.

To edit a plugin, go to the EDITOR in your expanded plugin menu, along the left side of the screen.

You can edit your plugins here, but note that this function is only for ADVANCED USERS, as editing here can break the plugin rather easily.

MANAGING PLUGINS IN WORDPRESS

Click on the UPDATE button located mid screen, near the center of your Dashboard.

Click UPGRADE AUTOMATICALLY.

The install process can take several minutes to complete. Once WordPress has been upgraded, information about the install will show up on your screen.

Click on the GO TO THE DASHBOARD link.

You can now see that your current version of WordPress has changed.
