“Buyer Beware”. Last year I saw a WebHosting pad ad that said “Free Domain Name for Life”. In fact I still have a screen capture of that ad. Also in their website main page it states there “Free Domain Name”, so when I received an email that they charged me this year for domain name renewal I told them about the free domain name which they said is only for the first year. They said that in the users agreement (I guess buried somewhere) that it states it is only free for a year. Well, this is certainly false advertising. SO BUYER BEWARE. There are others hosting site that really offer free domain names, but Webhotingpad is not one of them. I made the mistake of signing up for 3 years.

I figured people may think that any review I may give may not be completely true. So, I will recap. I’ve had numerous problems with them and will sum it up by providing the BBB website and the fact that they give it an F. Be careful, they auto renew without notification (illegal in the state of Illinois) and you will never see your money. The states attorney has been notified of the 815 ILCS 601/ Automatic Contract Renewal Act violation.

Webhostingpad.com is the worst web host scam in the world… Two years ago, I made the mistake of signing of for two years of hosting. Three months later, I cancelled my account (lost all of my money I paid for two years)… and I went to a much better web host. Then, I just discovered they illegally billed my credit card again for another two years without my permission. I emailed them about this, and they responded in their typical fashion- rude and ugly. I reported this fraud to my credit card company and had the charge removed. I have filed a complaint with the IC3 and the FBI. I also filed a report with the Secret Service, and am working on a report with the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau.

These guys are sleazy, filthy criminals. Keep charging me, even though I cancelled two years ago and got a cancellation number.

It was the same problem that i too faced as many have faced here..

A month ago i subscribed to webhostingpad.com. They deducted a one time fee of abt USD$100 for my 3 years of subscription. 2 days ago, i realised that they deducted another USD$160 from my account. When i emailed them and asked about the additional charges, they told me that i clicked on some 30 days trial add-ons. Within that 30 days, if you did not call to unsubscribe the add-ons, they will auto-renew for you and deduct the payment from your bank account.

I mailed them several times but they stopped responding.
I spoke to the credit card company people, they asked me to fill a charge dispute form n submit.
Will that help? Is there anyone who has got their money refunded through the company??

No matter how i tried to reason out for them, i told them to terminate the add-ons for me and ask for a refund. They just insisted that it is not refundable. The manager whom i corresponded with listed a few things that cost only $12 when i asked why i was charged an additional $160, they did not list down the add-on features. I find that it so such a dodgy sales tactics that they are using to cheat ignorant customers.

If ever i did click to a 30 days trial add-ons, they should ask me if i want to renew it and not jus deduct from my account without my knowledge!

I made several calls to the IUS Webhostingpad call centre from Singapore and they insisted that they cant do a refund. Finally after reasoning out with the customer service officer, he refunded me part of the charges. In the end i still had to pay the additional $50 USD.

Please beware of using your credit card with these guys they add additional stuff into it without your authorization. Please don’t register with them for ANY trial FREE stuff as one the trial is over they charge and keep charging you!!!!!! It is some kind of trickery. I am waiting for a year to finish for me to move my client’s site to somewhere else. Please be careful with these guys. Their billing basically gave me a “tough luck” answer when I informed them.

Webhostingpad.com is without a doubt the worse hosting company I have ever dealt with. My site went down weekly for hours at a time and I have seen better tech support at computer camps. The last straw for me was catching them lying to me about a server issue. It aggravated me so bad that I called and shut down my VPS account. Within 10 minutes I received an email from them informing me that my other account was a victim of a DDOS attack and all my data was lost. When I complained I was told Webhostingpad.com does not need my business. I challenge webhostingpad to prove my review is wrong or misleading … I have all my emails … do they????

I set up web hosting with this service, and they sent my login info, copying some bogus email “rammal@aol.com.” When I asked for them to correct the mistake, they sent another password, and AGAIN copied this random guy. They finally sent me a secure email with a new password that DOESN’T work. Now their help desk keeps asking me questions like “send us your full name” as if they have no records of my order. I’m very disappointed with their service so far.

My site has been down for at least two days. They have restored it from a backup that was at least 4 months old, if not older. And now they tell me I should be the one taking care of regenerating it to its most up-to-date situation. Well, I would understand it if it actually was my fault. I had an addon domain routed to a document in my site, a joomla 1.5 installation, some folders, etc. that are not longer available. Since all this apparently was caused by a problem in the hard disks and not by some abuse on my side, I don’t understand why I should be the one correcting the problem. Anyway, Webhostingpad had a failure and apparently it does not have the resources to disentangle its consequences. Their response is basically: “we have done what we can do”, that’s it, and is that enough?

  11. Dec 7th, 2009 (john)

First off, their ‘free domain name’ cost about $15, the file manager interface was poor, and I couldn’t ever get the my ftp client to upload my website files and folders properly.
The so-called technical support were a bunch of jokers who seemed to have no knowledge outside of their little script to read, and could offer no useful advice whatsoever. Worse than that, they cared not the slightest that I was going to request a refund and go to a proper web hosting site.
I will be calling their billing dept tomorrow to cancel, expecting to be ripped off by these clowns not respecting their ‘full money back guarantee’…

I totally agreed with Terry, webhostingpad is a scam. I signed up their service upon seeing the price and promises they gave. After a year, I decided to cancel the webhosting service with them. Instead of terminating my service, they charged me for another year. I wrote in to andrew and tried various ways to get to the top of management about this matter, but they DID NOT REPLY MY EMAIL. They obviously knew I am a foreigner, hence for me to ring them up and complain is also quite troublesome for me. They cheated my money and never refund a single cent to me. Basically, the whole company is a scam, staffs will cover up for each other when they know you want to complain. I wrote in to various departments for help, but all they know is to AVOID, AVOID & AVOID. I really doubt their professionalism in this industry!

If you do not want any problems with them, it is best not to use their service.

Beware of http://www.webhostingpad.com. I signed up for there service because of the price and the promises that they make. Boy was that a huge mistake. So I ask for a refund per there policy in 3 days and was told in the email below that it was cancelled as well as refunded. Well its been 9 days and no refund. I disputed the charge with the Credit card company abd then called them. Andrew told me that sense I filed a dispute with the credit card company he was not going to issue a refund. The Credit Card company in turn told me that they would take care of it.

I am also filing a complaint with the BBB as well as the Attorney General. Until this all goes thru I just wanted to warn anyone who may be thinking about doing business to beware.

Here is a copy of the credit which they never gave!!!

    Hello,

This is to inform you that your account has been canceled and that you have been issued a full refund. Please allow up to 5 business days for the refund to appear on your credit card account.

Great and reliable service. Have not had any downtime.

  17. Dec 22nd, 2008 (Micah)

Horrible experience. Website down constantly after 30 guarantee is up. Company sends threatening and unprofessional emails when you ask for support.

  18. Jul 10th, 2008 (Toni)

Do not recommend… they guarantee 99.9% uptime for the first 30 days, after that beware. I have several sites hosted through them and have had nothing but continual downtime issues since my 30 days expired. Downtime lasts from 30 minutes to several days. Go somewhere else. They are friendly on the phone, but cannot deliver or fix the problem.

  19. May 26th, 2008 (abc123)

I had the very same problem with the only reason that is was my fault. Well i trasferred all the same files to a new host with no issues and the site is running great. They don’t want to admit they have problems they cant fix. I have since sent a ticket to cancel my account and wish to be prorated for the months of service and have that credit back. They say after 30 days there is no refund. Here is the kicker…..everything was fine for 30 days…..then they moved my account to provide better service and they were right…..it has been nothing but SERVICE !

“Let’s offer a 30 day refund and put them on the new server…..then we’ll move them…..who cares we got their money and their 30 days is up!”

If your looking for a web host…..move on!

  20. May 2nd, 2008 (Andrew Burton)

Yes, the tech support (online helpdesk)could be beefed up but I haven’t had too many reasons to call tech support. I’d estimate a 10 minute or so outage every two months. They are NOT marketing savvy…in other words.. don’t expect a chatty exchange of ideas. They do make me very happy, I mean webhostingpad phone support, they simply are great bunch of guys. Whenever I call these guys they really make you feel good, they are very friendly and technically very knowledgable. I myself being a senior programmer sometimes find their technical skills awesome. I really recommend webhostingpad.

  21. Apr 29th, 2008 (Leigh)

Pretty good all around – had a couple minutes hold time on their phone support one day but I called 3 other times for random things and they were fast. I give em 4!
