There are a lot of ways that you can use to promote your site. Maybe you know a lot of people and/or are friends with others on the Internet who can help to get your name and information out there.
That’s great, but you’ll need more than that, and one thing you’ll need is SEO, or search engine optimization. It’ll help your page rank and get more people to your site. Reciprocal linking with others and writing articles that can help you get your website promoted both on the Internet and in print are great ways to get people’s attention.
Social networking and blogging are also fantastic ideas when it comes to how to promote your website. There are a lot of sites where you can network, and blogging keeps people coming back because there’s new and interesting content out there each day for people to read. If you talk about relevant and interesting things, people will read it and they will likely enjoy it. Then they’ll continue to come back to see what you’ve done next, helping to promote your site even more.
If you’ve acquired a web host who you think is great but the company has no customer service, you might want to think about the company again -and then go somewhere else.
What if your site goes down? What if you need a question answered? Can you rely on your webhosting company to take care of you?

Cpanel is usually the only way you can configure web hosting, unless you have shell access, which most people don’t. You can add ftp users, create directories, make databases, access administrative functions, and make email accounts with Cpanel, and you can do most of your other, day-to-day functions that involve maintenance. Anything beyond that has to be done differently, but Cpanel is quite advanced and can handle a lot. It also usually comes with Fantastico, which lets you autoinstall php-based scripts.

Reseller hosting occurs when one person buys a bulk plan from a company and then divides that plan to resell to a lot of other people. The server itself is run by the actual reseller company, but the web host often claims that the server is theirs. A lot of people would wonder why in the world they needed to go through a reseller.
Why not just buy from the main company and cut out the middleman?
The reason is that these big companies have a lot of bandwidth for sale, and the best way to buy it is in big chunks. The catch is that most small businesses and others who want to own a website don’t need that much space. It’s much easier - and much cheaper -for them to buy a smaller amount of bandwidth from a reseller than it is for them to buy a huge chunk of very expensive bandwidth and then not use most of it. In general, the reseller hosting trend is the way to go for most people.
If you plan to do anything with your own website, you need a domain name - a web address that people can use to get to your site and something that gets their attention. Getting one can be really easy, because there are so many companies out there today that offer these services. Some of them cost only a few dollars per year, and they generally work well for individuals and small businesses. (more…)
Good question. There are both pros and cons to both of them, of course, depending on your needs. Most sites on the Internet have Unix based hosting. A common misconception, however, is that individuals who have Windows PCs and are webmasters have to use Windows based hosting, and that’s simply not true.

If you’re just new to web hosting, chances are you don’t know that much about it. That’s ok, but it’s important to work at getting an education. There are three basic things that you really need to know about it. (more…)
The number one mistake that people make when they hire a webhost is that they look only at how much it’s going to cost them. Sure, that’s important, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Look at more than how much you’re spending.

That’s not an easy question to answer, unfortunately. There are too many variables to say with any kind of certainty whether a person has to have a dedicated server for their business. However, if you have a huge business that’s getting a ton of traffic to its site, you might want to have one. Your customers will get there faster and they won’t get irritated waiting for your site to load, especially if there is a lot of traffic to the other sites on that same server.
